CONSPICUOUS VALUES AND INCISIVE ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS OF THE BUNA RIVER

In this paper about 29 classes of habitats, 15 more important profile surfaces, mixed forest of mouth of the Buna/Bojana river, 7 wooded islands, forest of Maja e Zeze, 7 plant associations including endemic ones of Trapa natans, Quercus robur, 237 bird species, the entrance of Tursiops truncatus and Caretta caretta till the Buna riverhead, the presence of Ursus arctos in Rana e Hedhun and marine fish stocks as more conspicuous values of the Buna river are presented. Elimination of directly untreated discharges of the sewage of the Shkodra city and Ulqini commune in the river, the reconstruction of irrigation and drainage system and insurance of the fish migration routes as priorities of scientific managements of the hydrological conditions and dynamic of the Buna delta are identified. The Buna river was declared protected region and also included in the European Green Belt, but this status must be reconceived as biosphere reserve.
