Pioneer Corp. has taken the lead in the industry in the introduction of plasma display panel (PDP) TVs to markets outside Japan, as well as to the Japanese market. In 2003, Pioneer released its fourth-generation of PDP TVs in August in Japan, and introduced them to markets in Europe, the United States and Asia from October to November. From the end of 2003 through the beginning of 2004, Pioneer spurs sales of PDP TVs overseas, focusing on these new models. Yasuo Sakuma, General Manager, Business Planning Department, Display Business Division, Home Entertainment Company of Pioneer Corp., who oversees sales of PDP TVs in the global markets, described the company's product lineup and basic regional sales strategies.
