Part of the Medical Library Association Books series, Developing Librarian Competencies for the Digital Age offers information that addresses librarian competencies for all library types but is more heavily focused on competencies for academic library settings and academic medical library settings. Although the title Developing Librarian Competencies for the Digital Age may suggest this is a handbook on how to develop one's own or other librarians' competencies, such is not the case. This book offers some historical overviews of librarian competencies but largely focuses on discussing the current and emerging competencies that librarians should possess. It also discusses the forces that are driving these competency demands and offers brief predictions of what competencies will be needed in the future to remain adept, valued professionals.
