Transforming medical library staff for the twenty-first century

Anyone engaged in medical librarianship is aware of the rapidly changing roles and new domains of knowledge required for medical librarians. As health sciences evolve in new directions, using new methodologies, medical librarians must adapt and grow to stay relevant. Adaptation means new services, new workflows, and unanticipated user needs as well as incorporating new medical fields with their discoveries and methodologies into the librarians' expertise. Change is a certainty, so equipping the staff of medical libraries to best meet these challenges and new frontiers is a pressing need for library managers.
