The AEA AOA Approaches

One of the options currently on the table is a variant of the two-seat F/A-18F, dubbed the EA-18 (formerly known as the F/A-18G Growler), to carry out suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD). The AEA AOA is considering a multitude of platforms as part of a mix of SEAD aircraft, and the EA-18, the concept proposed by Boeing (St. Louis, MO) and partner Northrop Grumman (Baltimore, MD), is one of those under consideration. Among the systems that allow the EA-18 to take on the SEAD role are an improved LR-700 receiver — . the current version of which is being fitted to Prowlers under the Improved Capabilities (ICAP) Ⅲ program — mounted on the wingtips of the aircraft.
