Managing the Successful School Library: Strategic Planning & Reflective Practice

There is relatively little in the way of literature that offers a comprehensive overview of a subject as subtly complex as managing school libraries. Lesley Farmer’s wonderful book Managing Successful School Libraries is one such work. Farmer discusses many of the major issues that school library managers face, from staffing to facilities to funding. Each chapter concludes with an extremely helpful section called “Bringing it down to you,” which sums up the chapter’s material in a way that is helpful to the reader. These concluding sections will be especially useful for students in school library teacher programs who perhaps do not have much practical experience in the field.
