SURVEY OF MICROBIAL FLORA FROM THE MOUTH PIECE OF CELL PHONES

Microbial flora from one hundred samples of cell phones were collected for study from general public and the samples were grown on agar plate. The inference shows that the mouth piece harbours opportunistic pathogenic micro organisms which are Acinetobacter haemolyticus, A.bauinanni, and Neisseria flavescens. The investigation understands that the above-mentioned microbes isolated from mouth piece can get adapted to the polymers used in the manufacture of the body of cell phone. Acinetobacter haemolyticus and A.bauinanni species are opportunistic pathogens which can cause respiratory infection, septicemia and other dangerous disease. Neisseria flavescens are also opportunistic pathogen, which causes meningitis in human being. They are yellow colonies grows on agar medium shows haemolysis.Radiations released from cell phones can cause physiological, biochemical and immunological imbalances in the human body which will decrease resistive power against pathogens. Smearing the body of phones with natural extract to avoid the infection of Acinetobacter and Neisseria species is suggested.
