IMPACT OF FOOD RATION SIZE ON BIOCHEMICAL CONSTITUENTS OF THE ORNAMENTAL FISH, ETROPLUS SURATENSIS

摘要

Growth performance of an ornamental fish. Etroplus survtensix was assessed in relation to the quantum of feed provided. (Artemia) in different quantities alter assessing the maximum intake of Anemia by a fish in a day. Protein content decreased when the feed amount was decreased. At 100% feed, the protein content was 7.2 and 12.8 in muscle and liver and at 75% feed ration, the decrease in protein content in muscle and liver were 27.3% and 18.8%. At 25% feed ration, protein level decreased to a greater extent (47 % in muscles & 41.1 % in liver). Like protein, carbohydrate and fat in the liver and muscle of E. suratensi.s also showed a declining trend in relation to the feed consumed by the candidate species. The study concludes that low ration (25 & 50%) led fishes showed poor proximate composition of their body tissues compared to higher ration fed groups and the study also suggests 75% of food is enough for the normal growth performance of the candidate species.
