摘要

Activities of serum alkaline and acid phosphatase of lead acetate exposed at 50 mg kg weight of food showed an elevation in the lead (50 ppm) treated rats. The levels of Aspartate Tranferase(AST) and Alanine Tranferase (ALT) in the treated rats were significantly increased,(l 80.2 % & 140.6 %). The glycogen level of treated rats were showed a drastic decline at all autopsy intervals, in the liver(86.5 %), kidney(18.2 %) and brain( 12.5 %). Cholesterol on the other hand was found to be significantly increased (60.2 %) in all the organs in the lead acetate treated rats. The lead acetate treatments have caused a reduction of acid phosphatase in the liver(40.5 %) and kidney(31.5 %). However, it was increased in the brain(29.1 %). Thus this study indicates that in the event of occupational exposure of human beings to sub-lethal level of lead would result in severe alteration of basic metabolic enzymes and energy reserves of the vital organs.
