France and the New Imperialism. Security Policy in Sub-Saharan Africa

France and the New Imperialism belongs to the increasingly vast literature that takes a very critical stance on what is now rather consensually called the Frangafrique, i.e. France's very special relations with Africa. The book is, however, an original contribution in that, rather than drawing a comprehensive, and possibly too general, overview, as has rnalready been done by many, it looks at one specific but central aspect of these relations— security policy—and adopts a clear theoretical framework, that of critical security studies.
