The adhesion durability was investigated for three-layer-polyethylene-coated steel pipe (Steel/epoxy primer/adhe- sion polyethylene/polyethylene). In the epoxy primer layer, V_2O_5 was included as a pigment. The coating adhesion loss and delamination of polyethylene-coated steel pipe were caused by OH-which was generated by oxygen reduction at the interface between steel surface and coating layer. V_2O_5 has a property to control pH of water layer at the interface area to be around isoelectric point of surface (IEPS).
