This account was submitted by the late Russ Janzen shortly before his death on 14 May. It was to be the second in a series of stories he was intending to prepare. His first article, "A Seabee Connection," which appeared in the Summer Journal dealt with his experiences flying the little Republic amphibian as a civilian during the late '40s, prior to his return to the RCAF during the Korean War.
