Seven mistakes to avoid in launching and scaling digital platforms

Today's digital platform builders are facing a different environment than that faced by early platform builders such as Uber and Airbnb. By studying 16 emerging, failed, and successful platforms, we identify seven mistakes to avoid in the design, launch and scaling of new and emergent digital platforms. Understanding these mistakes and how they can be avoided will help entrepreneurs and managers navigate the process of developing platforms that generate and maintain value for their owners and participants.
