Gamma-ray induced change of mechanical and magnetic properties of Fe-Cu model alloys irradiated with energetic electrons have been investigated. Vickers hardness, saturation magnetization, coercivity and remanent magnetization of Fe-Cu alloys with various Cu contents were measured. Mechanical hardness as well as the magnetic hardness of these alloys vary markedly with the increment of Cu contents. Specimens of low Cu content namely, Fe - 0.02% Cu and of high Cu content namely, Fe - 0.6% Cu alloys were irradiated at the electron fluence level from 2.7 x 10~(21) to 4.5 x 10~(23) c~-/m~2. Vickers hardness, coercivity and M_r/M_s ratio of these two specimens where, M_r and M_s are remanent magnetization and saturation magnetization, respectively as an index of irradiation hardening before and after irradiation, were also measured. Irradiation hardening for high Cu content specimen (Fe - 0.6% Cu alloy) is clearly observed with the increment of electron fluence. Moreover, a definite relationship between the change of mechanical and magnetic characteristic properties for electron irradiated Fe-Cu model alloys can be obtained.
