INTRODUCTION: CRIME PREVENTION THROUGH ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN (CPTED): THEMES, THEORIES, PRACTICE, AND CONFLICT

This CPTED theme issue is dedicated to Professor Bill Lim, its original editor, who passed away before it could be completed. Professor Lim was an outstanding scholar in the field of environmental design. His coauthored article (with Professor John R. Minnery) on "Measuring Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design " is included in this issue. The issue has been delayed because of the editorial transition and because original articles were updated during this time period and a new one was added. These papers deal with contemporary themes fundamental to the theories (and practice) of place-based crime prevention design and planning and especially to CPTED, arguably the best known among them.
