摘要

Thousands of librarians share the professional value that all opinions and voices should receive equal treatment within our libraries. Yet providing a forum for all points of view can create the potential for conflict, since librarians have a duty to respect the rights of those who favor controversial materials as well as those who wish to see such materials removed. This is especially true for public libraries, in which controversies over access and censorship may erupt, to be tried perhaps in our courtrooms or at least in our living rooms.
