Malaysia evaluates options for second batch of Littoral Mission Ships

The Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) has begun an initial process to evaluate possible vessel types for its second Littoral Mission Ship (LMS) programme. Industry sources close to the process have confirmed with Janes that the service is evaluating proposals from four standalone shipbuilders, including US shipbuilder Swiftships, Netherlands-based shipbuilder Damen, Germany's Fassmer, Malaysia's Preston Shipyard, and a joint venture (JV) proposal from Malaysian company Destini teamed with Damen.
