UK to examine rolling vertical landings on CVf

The UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) is to further investigate the potential for its next-generation Joint Combat Aircraft (JCA) to use a shipboard rolling vertical landing (SRVL) to recover to the Future Carrier (CVF), as an alternative to a vertical landing. Early studies have shown that a useful benefit in payload could be gained from the adoption of SRVL, but they have additionally identified a series of operational practicalities and potential hazards that demand further investigation.
