Brandenburg frigates reclaim ASW upper hand

The German Navy intends to purchase four Low-Frequency Towed Active Sonar (LFTAS) systems in a further effort to enhance the anti-submarine warfare (ASW) capabilities of its Brandenburg-class (Type 123) frigates.rnThe four vessels - which entered service in the mid-1990s - are already due to receive the Eurotorp MU 90 lightweight torpedo in place of the increasingly obsolescent Mk 46 Mod 2 weapon.
