South Korea's Ministry of Defense has approved an early version of a locally developed submarine combat system for use on board the country's KSS-3-class diesel-electric submarines (SSKs). According to an official statement from the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) on 10 October, the combat system, which has been under development since 2012, is now preliminarily cleared to be installed on the KSS-3 programme's first-of-class. The boat is scheduled for launch in 2018.
