MBDA reveals configuration of helicopter-launched FASGW/ANL

European missile house MBDA has firmed up the system design of the new Future Anti-Surface Guided Weapon/Anti-Navire Leger (FASGW/ANL) helicopter-launched lightweight anti-ship missile being developed for the navies of France and the UK.rnDetails disclosed by the company in late June reflect design-definition work up to the half way point of an ongoing 27-month Assessment Phase activity concluding in 2011. This builds on MBDA's earlier Sea Skua IR concept - featuring an infrared (IR) seeker, a 30 kg warhead and a two-way datalink to confer operator-in-the-loop (OITL) capability - but reflects the maturation of the overall missile architecture over the past 15 months.
