Lockheed Martin upgrades US joint air operations mission software

Lockheed Martin is doing a software upgrade of the air tasking order capabilities within the Theatre Battle Management Core System (TBMCS), to provide more advanced tools for joint planning of air missions. The first effort will focus on the air tasking order management system (ATOMS), which will replace major components of TBMCS, Michael Donovan, Lockheed Martin programme manager for TBMCS, told IHS Jane's. In December 2012, Lockheed Martin was awarded a five-year USD249 million multiple award indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract under the Command and Control Applications and Information Services Development contract, the company announced in April.
