USN readies for Triton Milestone C by year end

The US Navy (USN) is expected by mid-April to conduct the first flight of an MQ-4C Triton unmanned aircraft system (UAS) equipped with a sensor suite including the AN/ZPY-3 Multi-Function Active Sensor and the Automatic Identification System (AIS) used to identify commercial ships. The flights will take place at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, Maryland, where all three of the navy's Triton UAS have been outfitted with the sensor package. The flights were to have occurred the week of 6 April; however, they were delayed due to poor weather conditions, a USN Naval Air Systems Command spokesperson told IHS Jane's.
