Two Serbian Air Force and Air Defence (Rvi PVO) MiG-29S single-seat fighters and a MiG-29UB twin-seater were deployed to Bulgaria on 4 June for joint live-firing exercise 'Shabla 2021' along with the host nation's MiG-29s, the Bulgarian Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on its website the same day. During the exercise, involving 1,500 personnel from Bulgaria, Serbia, and the United States, Serbian and Bulgarian MiG-29s operated from Graf Ignatievo airbase, near Plovdiv, from 7-9 June until it was suspended because of a Bulgarian MiG-29A crashing into the Black Sea on 9 June. The Serbian MoD reported on 4 June that the Rvi PVO's 250th Air Defence Missile Brigade was also firing S-125M1T Neva-M fixed and 2K12M Kub-M1 mobile surface-to-air missiles during the exercise.
