The Indian Army is modifying its training, tactics and equipment to ready itself to fight a war against a nuclear backdrop, says Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Sunderajan Padmanabhan. "Since there will always be the threat of nuclear weapons being used against our field forces, counter-measures to deal with this eventuality through revised strategies, improved hardware and mobility will have to be firmed up," he says.
