France beefs up its contribution to UNIFIL troops

The sluggish effort to reinforce the UN Interim Force In Lebanon (UNIFIL) in south Lebanon received a boost on 24 August after an initially reluctant France agreed to increase its troop contribution by another two battalions of 1,600 soldiers to reach a total strength of2,000.
