Chad, Sudan hold talks ahead of Darfur negotiations

Chad and Sudan have again moved to normalise relations as part of the comprehensive effort to resolve the conflict in Darfur, with high-level negotiations in the Chadian capital N'Djamena ahead of wider peace talks expected at the end of the month under mediation by Qatar. The latest round of high-level discussions between the central African neighbours and sometime adversaries follows claims of aggression levelled by both sides, with Sudan complaining to the UN Security Council in July about Chadian air raids on its territory. N'Djamena and Khartoum regularly accuse each other of supporting rebels intent on overthrowing their respective governments.
