From early beginnings as something of an experiment between the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the defence industry, the Niteworks partnership is continuing to develop as a key strategic asset for the MoD. Launched in 2003, the partnership's future in the development of defence capabilities was not always certain until the awarding of a five-year GBP43 million (USD63 million) in-service phase contract in December 2007.
