Citing domestic concerns, India has withdrawn Mil Mi-17 and Mi-8 'Hip' multirole medium-lift helicopters deployed in support of peacekeeping operations in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo, a spokesman for the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (DPKO) confirmed.rnIn a statement to Jane's on 28 September, the spokesman said that nine of the 23 helicopters that India has contributed to the UN missionrnin the Congo (MONUSCO) were being repatriated: five utility and four attack helicopters.
