A war of words has broken out between the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and the National Audit Office (NAO) after the public spending watchdog said revised carrier strike plans outlined in last year's Strategic Defence and Security Review (SDSR) had inflated new build costs while diluting capability and delaying introduction to service.
