Uganda to deploy helos to Somalia

Uganda has deployed helicopters to support its troops serving with the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), according to Uganda Air Force spokesman Lieutenant Moses Omayo. "We have sent combat helicopters and transport helicopters," Lt Omayo told IHS Jane's. "It is the first time that we have sent the air support." While he declined to say how many helicopters were involved, any aircraft would be extremely useful in supporting AMISOM's current expansion across four vast sectors covering central and southern Somalia.
