Vietnam and South Korea have signed agreements in Hanoi to collaborate in defence industry activities and explore areas of potential military sales. The accords were signed during South Korean President Park Geun Hye's three-day state visit to Vietnam, which ended on 11 September. The two countries also pledged to establish a free trade agreement that will seek to boost bilateral trade from USD20 billion in 2012 to USD70 billion by 2020.
