Spain to renew payment system for major modernisation programmes

The Spanish government is set to renew its payments for key defence modernisation programmes in 2017 after its previous practice of separating them from the main defence budget was rejected earlier this year by the Constitutional Court. Money allocated for the Pro-gramas Especiales de Armamento (PEAs) for 2016 will be added to that for 2017, making more than EUR1.82 billion (USD1.93 billion) available to suppliers, according to a statement.
