Finland's annual export report reveals issue of licences in 2016 down on previous year

Finland's Ministry of Defence released its annual report on defence exports on 5 June, reporting EUR101 million (USD114 million) in licences issued in 2016, down substantially from EUR377 million the previous year. Much of the 2015 figure was tied to EUR118 million in licences for exports to Poland: a figure that fell to EUR3 million for 2016. The 2015 amount also included EUR79 million in licences for equipment to be sent to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), which fell to EUR7 million for 2016.
