Royal Australian Navy's first air warfare destroyer begins sea acceptance trials

The first of three Hobart-class air warfare destroyers (AWDs) on order for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) was put to sea on 30 January for sea acceptance trials off the coast of South Australia, the AWD Alliance, the consortium responsible for building and delivering the ships, announced in a 30 January press release. Expected to last several weeks, the trials will lead to Hobart being delivered to the RAN in June if successfully completed.
