New terminal brings change to Christchurch

Christchurch International Airport in New Zealand is eyeing rapid growth after a new integrated terminal opened on 18 April 2013. The NZD237 million (USD 199 million) terminal was completed in March, on time and within budget. It stands on the site of the old domestic terminal, which was demol- ished, and is integrated with the old international terminal. "It has domestic and international check-in areas, a large retail and F&B [food and beverage] precinct, large departure and arrival lounges, and swing gates - all with a South Island look and feel," said Matthew Findlay, general manager for aeronautical business development.
