From CSI to the Classroom: Developing A Computer Forensics Degree Program

As organizations and society as a whole increase their reliance on technology, the need for professionals who know how to find fraud in a computerized environment has grown dramatically. Unfortunately, most colleges do not teach computer forensics, fraud examination or information systems audit. The result is that most cyberdetectives learn on the job. Fortunately, this is changing. In the aftermath of the recent financial reporting scandals, a number of colleges and universities have begun to offer classes in forensics and fraud examination, although few offer complete programs. This article describes the authors' experiences developipg programs in computer forensics and fraud examination at Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania (USA).
