The Howe Robinson Container Index (HRCI) increased from 360.5 points for the week ending on 1 May to 361.8 points for the one ending on 15 May. This minimal 1.3 point rise in the HRCI equates to a 0% change - in effect, there was barely any movement over the last two weeks. Most rate adjustments hovered around the 0% mark, with the biggest falls coming from the larger categories. Only the figures for the 3,500 and 4,300 teu segments declined, by 4% and 2% respectively. Smaller sectors were slightly more positive, with the charges for units with less than 1,100 teu capacity increasing over the fortnight. There has been some interest in small to mid-sized ships, but fixtures made have been for short term contracts. CMA CGM, for example, chartered in the 1,512 teu San Vicente for two months, with an option for two more, at the low rate of USD 4,200 per day, while STX Pan Ocean has fixed the 1,296 teu Warnow Vaquita for a three-month charter, with extension options, at USD 4,450 per day.
