Many signs indicate that the global recession has bottomed out. The international aviation exhibitions that were staged in Singapore and Mumbai in February were proof of the saying ?AII good things come from above?. One would like to add - and from Asia's tiger states as well.rnThe Airports Council International, the global airport association which assembled in Montreal (Canada) in February, reported that the airfreight industry in the Asia-Pacific region was less hard hit than the rest of the world last year. Airports in the Middle East were an exception, as they posted a modest increase in airfreight volumes (+4.9%). All other regions reported bigger losses than the minus 5.9% that Asia-Pacific airports had to swallow. The latter handled a handsome 22.8 million t, or 41% of the world's entire air cargo shipments.
