There is probably more than a bit of truth in the claim that the practical and operational necessities in logistics usually leave basic research high and dry. The Club of Logistics has jumped in to fill the gap. A logistics think tank based in Dortmund (Germany), its aim is to improve the image of the industry and showcase future scenarios. It calls on industry leaders and politicians to use the current crisis in the automotive industry as an opportunity to fundamentally reexamine theories and practices in transport and energy infrastructure design.
