Siemens unveils Desiro City emu concept

Siemens has unveiled a new emu for the British market which it hopes will be the winner in the race to supply up to 1200 vehicles for the expanded cross-London Thameslink network. The trains will run on lightweight low-track-force Asyntegra bogies, which will feature inboard bearings and integrated bogie-mounted traction motors. rnThe aluminium-bodied trains will be 25% lighter than existing British Desiro fleets and will feature improved aerodynamics to help reduce energy consumption.
