Dart puts hybrid LRV through its paces

Dallas Area Rapid Transit (Dart) is evaluating Kinki Sharyo's prototype Ameritram hybrid LRV, which uses overhead power to charge lithium ion batteries, allowing it to operate independently for up to 8km. Dart is currently working as technical adviser to the City of Dallas on a number of light rail projects, including a line to Oak Cliff and a network serving the city centre.
