This is a fine book. It is conceptually clear, intelligent in its approach to issues and well written. Most importantly, it is driven by Billings' experience of teaching Reformed seminarians. One always gets the sense that the manner in which he raises issues and the tone he uses in addressing them is shaped by classroom discussions and arguments. Readers get the sense of being in class with a very accomplished teacher. Even so, the scholar who has already engaged with current debates and arguments around theological interpretation of Scripture will find that this book is a welcome addition to the discussion.
