Serious Arabic meaning, grammatical, and study design flaws in the study 'Faxed Arabic Prescriptions: A medication error waiting to happen?'

摘要

We are writing in response to the "Faxed Arabic prescriptions: A medication error waiting to happen?" study conducted by Feldman et al., which highlights important issues that occur when transmitting prescriptions in the Arabic language. The authors are to be thanked for raising awareness on the topic of medication prescription errors. While little is known about the frequency and types of such errors in developing countries, a report by the Institute of Medicine found that about 1.5 million preventable medication errors occur each year in the United States. We believe that this critical issue has to be thoroughly investigated in order to formulate and implement feasible solutions.
