KESH seeks safety upgrades for Komani dam, Albania

Albania's state-owned power producer Korporata Elektroenergjitike Shqiptare (KESH) has issued a general procurement notice for safety upgrades at the Komani hydropower scheme on the Drin river. KESH said in mid-February that the prequalification process for contracts to carry out rockfall protection measures at Komani and consolidation of the dam toe and left bank scour area is expected to begin in the second quarter of this year. The 600 MW Komani plant and 125 m-high dam in northeastern Albania were completed between 1985 and 1998.
