Himachal Pradesh commissions the 100 MW Sainj plant

The 100 MW Sainj hydropower project in the northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh entered into full commercial service on 12 September, with the commissioning of the second of two 50 MW units. The first unit was commissioned in June. The project was built by Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) under an EPC contract awarded in June 2010 on behalf of owner-operator Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (HPPCL). HCC subcontracted the supply of hydro-mechanical equipment to GMW of India, and the electro-mechanical equipment was supplied by Voith.
