In the developed world, almost 50% of carbon dioxide emissions are released through the energy consumption of buildings. The bulk of this is due to processes of internal climate (heating, cooling and ventilation). The International Energy Agency and the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change have identified the building sector as the segment of the market with the largest potential for energy efficiency gains. New buildings developed each year in the UK account for 2% or less of the existing building stock. Many of the existing buildings do not meet the current regulations of energy efficiency.rnThe main aim of the paper is to propose a method of increasing the energy efficiency of existing buildings with minimum disturbance of its occupiers and no relocation.
