This study proposes a novel application of the differential voltage current conveyor (DVCC) in realising relaxation generators. This is the first report of a relaxation generator constructed with a DVCC device. The proposed circuits employ a single DVCC with a minimum number of passive components. The first circuit is a typical topology that can generate a symmetrical square wave with a fixed duty cycle. The second circuit can further control the duty cycle of a square wave by adjusting the tuning factor of the potentiometer. This study also presents an improved topology that features dual frequency operation modes within the same scheme, describes the operation of the circuits, and discusses the non-ideal effects and other considerations of the proposed circuits. This study simulates the proposed circuits using Is-Spice to verify their workability, and further uses commercially available ICs and discrete components for circuit implementation and testing. Simulation and experimental results correspond with the theoretical analysis.
