摘要

This article is an introduction to the first part of the special issue dedicated to the late Professor Lionel McKenzie, covering his contribution to economic dynamics and equilibrium theory. The article relates his work to the papers included in this special issue and to those of his former students so as to illustrate his influence on economic theory as well as his contribution to economics as an educator.
