European constitutional law is probably one of the most fascinating branches of the law of the European Union: activism of the Court of Justice together with the brilliant attempts to articulate the theoretical essence of the European integration project by numerous scholars, including Andrew Williams, Robert Schiitze, J.H.H. Weiler, and Koen Lenaerts, coupled with the emergence of new fields of law profoundly reshaping the Constitutional essence of the Union, such as EU citizenship, all contribute to the breathtaking beauty and growing relevance of this field. Also the analyses conducted in the traditional vein, close to the text, are not to be forgotten, shedding rays of scholarly light on our subject matter: recent works of Jean-Claude Piris and Alina Tryfonidou are, inter alia, the cases in point.
